During the height of his collegiate career, his life changed dramatically. On November 3rd, 1984, he survived a terrible automobile accident as a passenger in his friend’s car, suffering a critical and life-threatening spinal cord neck injury that left him paralyzed from the chest down and diagnosed a quadriplegic.
Despite his grim diagnosis, Scott refused to be sidelined. After six months of intense physical therapy, he fought the fight of his life and progressed further than anyone could have imagined. Embracing his new life, as opposed to resisting it, he returned to college and earned a BS Degree in Finance. In addition, he found himself competing again, this time in a completely different sport. They call it full-contact Wheelchair Rugby, otherwise known as Murderball, a Paralympic sport.
After graduating from college, Scott’s first career was as a Financial Advisor in the Insurance and Financial Industry. In his 5th year, he qualified for the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), the Premiere Association of Financial Professionals, which is a 100% commission-driven sales award that fewer than 8% of his peers qualify for annually from more than 500 companies in 70 countries.
At the pinnacle of that career, Scott experienced yet another enormous setback, a second automobile accident. New injuries forced him to RE-evaluate, RE-invent and once again RE-ignite his life. As a result, he made a decision to leave an industry that he had so much passion for to pursue two new career paths: a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to partner with his brother, who was expanding his multimillion-dollar golf course supply business into Southeast Asia, and motivational speaking.
Today, Scott is an in-demand keynote motivational speaker sharing with audiences the tools they need to stand up to and conquer any challenges they face. He’s delivered his powerful presentation in 45 states and in such countries as Australia, Spain, India, Bermuda, Mexico, the Czech Republic and Canada, as well as to our soldiers at the Minot Air Force Base, leaving each audience member with substantial takeaways that can have a profound impact in their own personal and professional lives.
Scott is also a bestselling author with his book Vision Mindset Grit! In addition, on March 18, 2016, 12,000 feet above sea level, in Vail, Colorado, skiing along a ridge known as China Bowl, Scott proposed to Kim Fedele, his girlfriend of 3 years with whom he connected at their 30th high school reunion.
